We want your CMD jewelry to stay beautiful and sparkly for years to come. After many requests, we put together a few jewelry care tips that we'll be sharing in the coming weeks. In this new series, let's first talk polishing.
We recommend you clean your CMD jewelry periodically, but not necessarily on a daily basis. Our long-lasting polishing cloths are likely all you need for your regular care routine. They're much gentler and less corrosive on your jewelry than liquid tarnish remover, and you can use them over and over again. The cloths are infused with special micro-abrasives and a cleansing agent that work together to clean pieces back to their brilliant original shine. I suggest using a polishing cloth once a month or so, depending on how often you wear the piece. Keep in mind, everyday use is not advised as the slightly abrasive cloth may wear down the metal over time. Fun tidbit: The more you wear the jewelry, the less likely it is to tarnish. The oils of your skin will actually protect the surface of the piece.
It is perfectly normal for the cloth to appear black or "dirty" even when used on sterling silver, gold-fill or 14k solid gold. You can use a cloth until it's completely dark in color and softer to the touch. Our production team estimates that our high traffic cloths in the studio get replaced every 50-75 cleanings.
You can use our cloths on all finished jewelry. Please DO NOT use the cloth on oxidized (blackened) silver as it will remove the darkened patina and restore your piece back to sterling silver.
