We can’t thank you enough for all your support of CMD the past few weeks. We feel grateful for being able to keep doing what we do, even if that means that we work at a limited capacity during the quarantine. The SF Shop and NY Studio are closed, but we’re still operational. We’re still making jewelry, fulfilling orders, and the Sample Sale lives on virtually! For more updates, here are two videos from the team:
A message from Julia
A shipping update from Colleen
Hopefully before long, we’ll be back to business as usual and running full steam ahead — but in the meantime, we hope you're all staying sane, safe, and healthy and enjoying the downtime by learning a new skill or picking up a new hobby!
Here’s what some members of our team are up to:
Our Product Development & Production Guru, Sam is a crafting machine both at work and at home! She’s creating a paper mâché plant holder, painting, making handmade butterflies and cooking up a storm during the quarantine.
Our Studio Supervisor and Production Pro, Julia is teaching herself classical guitar (she recently inherited a 1930’s antique guitar from her grandmother), growing hydroponic lettuce, started a subscription to an online workout class (Group HIIT), keeping up with her capoeira practice and playing capoeira music (learning berimbau). Go Julia!
Our Web & Marketing Manager, Kelsey is working on building a garage gym to stay active and in-shape during the quarantine. She never thought that her vast collection of home workout equipment would be so useful one day, but that day has come. She also picked up a woodworking project she’s left on the back-burner for a while, and plans to play around with integrating metal-inlay details once it’s complete!
Our Shipping Expert, Jaden is spending a lot of time embroidering and going on long walks and hikes in beautiful Ithaca, New York. I can’t wait to see what you make, Jaden and be sure to post a pic or two of your outdoor adventures!
Our Sales Specialist, Kat is making fused glass jewelry and organizing all of her jewelry supplies. Send us pictures, Kat! I’m sure I’m not the only one also working on getting organized during the stay-at-home period. Maybe we should write a post on DIY jewelry display or organization next…
Another Sales Specialist from our SF Team, Jasibe has pulled out her watercolors and is exploring her inner artist. Jasibe (like me!) has a background in architecture, so I can’t wait to hear more about the things she creates as the quarantine goes on! She’s also enjoying the outdoors and taking long walks with her husband in the East Bay.
As for me, I’ve taken the opportunity to dive deep into my meditation practice, and have been cooking up a storm! Sometimes I’m making healthy food, but more oftenly comfort food like yummy pasta dishes. Home should feel like home, you know? I’ve also been working A LOT to stay engaged with customers, neighbors, and friends. I’m FaceTiming people I normally call, and calling people I normally text. I’m also ordering online from some of my favorite shops and small businesses like Janegee and Luxaskin. Prioritizing my skin care and self care routines is helping.
Let us know how you are and what you’re up to during the quarantine. We want to hear from you, too!
