Summer months in New York mean something a little different than they do in San Francisco. Mainly, they mean lots and lots o’ sunshine (in The Bay we have to wait for the fall to roll around before the warm months finally descend upon us). Having grown up on the east coast, a balmy summer day that rolls into evening is nostalgic, and I’m currently in Trumansburg, NY soaking it up.
With bicoastal CMD production studios, I have a chance to spend time a fair amount of time in New York during all four seasons. Summer certainly has the most distinct vibe. Everything just feels a little different. While I do spend a fair amount of time in the concrete jungle of NYC, I love to visit our studio upstate, too, and see my amazing east coast production artists.
When they’re not busy soldering and hammering away at shiny jewelry, my NY team loves to spend the summers blissing out in the sun. The farmers markets are in full swing all summer long, which is very seasonal for them. (And it’s a good reminder for me how lucky we are to have them year round in California’s temperate climate.) When the temps get too hot, most people head to one of the gorges to cool down with a quick dip. (That’s also a reminder for me how lucky they are to get warm enough weather for outdoor swimming.)
I’ve spent so much of summer 2017 in New York, and I’ve loved every minute. However, I am looking happily towards fall in SF. What are your favorite towns in the summer? I’d love to hear about it in the comments.
