We are excited to release our latest collection: T R I
New York City (August 20th, 2016) – Self taught jewelry designer, Colleen Mauer of Colleen Mauer Designs, recently introduced her new TRI Collection, a continued exploration of using metal in a very unexpected way. After graduating with a BS in Industrial Design and working for a small furniture design company, Mauer decided that spending her time in someone else’s studio wasn’t for her. She instead chose to incorporate her design knowledge into her eponymous jewelry line. Mauer designs using texture, color, sounds and tones as her tools for transforming a simple section of material into unique pieces of jewelry .
Handmade in San Francisco and New York, the TRI Collection combines shiny rose gold and matte silver with pops of oxidized (blackened silver). Having always loved using mixed metals in one uniform piece, Mauer set out to create a collection that would surprise her audience by taking similar pieces of material and transforming them into three completely different finishes. The pops of oxidized silver allows the rose gold and silver to stand out next to one another. The TRI collection explores the gradual change of texture within one piece of jewelry by soldering gold and silver together. The silver component is then oxidized and Mauer then strips off part of the oxidation to create a trifecta of metals. Mauer loved the contrasting palette as a modern and beautiful introduction to the fall and winter months.
Colleen Mauer Designs is headquartered in San Francisco’s Mission District and features a shop and studio where customers can experience the production process from start to finish. Mauer‘ s unique designs celebrate simple geometries to create a jewelry line that is versatile enough to be classic and casual enough for daily wear. Mauer also creates custom pieces with a myriad of materials, styles and textures to craft everyday pieces that transcend the ordinary .
Colleen Mauer recently opened a small studio outside Ithaca, New York . She has an energetic team of production artists creating her jewelry line to accommodate the needs of her growing company. The New York team is led by Aryana Tatum, a long-time CMD employee and master metalsmith.
